The company are a leading process business in the marine industry and due to demand, they now have a new opportunity for a Buyer to join the business. This will be a contract opportunity with a minimum 6 month contract and offers attractive hourly rates and the opportunity for extension.
Reporting to the COO as member of the operations team, you will be responsible for sourcing alternative suppliers from the Far East for instrumentation, electrical panels, pressure vessels, valves and piping and skid package manufacturers.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer:
Suppliers shall be sourced worldwide with some emphasise on Far East suppliers for certain equipment.
The Buyer will coordinate with the engineering/design team to understand the product and ensure the new supplier can meet their equipment specifications and documentation requirements.
The deliverable will be a database of equipment and suppliers with cost, lead time and marine type approval certification
Component sourcing and identifying new suppliers
Cost reduction, identifying, implementing and monitoring cost saving opportunities
Requirements of the Buyer:
Previous experience as an engineering Buyer, working for an engineering or manufacturing business
It is essential that candidates have experience of sourcing suppliers from the Far East
Experience in collating information (datasheets, drawings, technical sheets) for suppliers to identify source
Knowledge of the marine industry and industry specific certifications will give candidates a distinct advantage
Strong negotiation skills
CIPS qualification is essential
