Pioneering crown jewel of a venue based just outside of Newbury, part of a successful group of award-winning Gastro Pubs with rooms, are seeking a trusted and vibrant Head Chef on a full-time permanent basis.
The Company is an award-winning group of individualised, and highly spec’d out Gastro Pubs with rooms, many of their establishments have been awarded accolades, and they are very much a food focused company with each pub having its own identity.
Serving up a variety of proven British classic pub dishes in a scenic countryside environment, to a competitive and passionate standard, ensuring that guests enjoy an exceptional experience, guaranteed every time.
The Head Chef is the trusted and established figure head of everything the kitchen produces, if you are into ground breaking, or once in a lifetime menu creation experiences, complimenting the wide variety of British classics, then you will be rewarded on a consistent basis, as long as you do not fall below the endorsed guests standards and brand values.
It is always an achievement to be awarded any accolades and this particular Gastro Pub has won the accolade of One Rosette and they would like you as the Head Chef, to have the desire and passion to continue this, or to even push further and obtain more accolades.
Key Features of the Role:
Exercising your management skills in order to control and direct the food preparation process, and any other relative activities required of a successful Head Chef.
Constructing menus with new or existing culinary creations, ensuring the variety and quality of the servings, approving and “polishing” dishes before they reach the guest.
Everyone in the brigade, from the Kitchen Porter to the Sous Chef, looks to you for inspiration, and you'll have to hold your own with the front of house restaurant staff.
Taking responsibility for the running of the kitchen, knows when and how to delegate or lead by example, getting stuck in, communicating in a reasonable and respectable manner.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
To be a successful in this role you will need to be an accomplished Head Chef
Consistently reliable, conscientious, resourceful, organised and punctual.
A role model to others, immaculate in presentation, comfortable talking with both guests and staff teams, engaging and open minded.
Passionate about using fresh, seasonal and local produce in award winning styles, and understand a local market.
Complete report writing, put together properly costed menus that suit the clientele and the brief for the Gastro Pub.
Able to motivate and train all your team members, so that they can see a clear career development path, increased skill base, knowledge and technical ability.
Proven to work well under pressure, a flexible working attitude and lead by example.
Adhere to company standards, procedures and can hit financial and management targets.
Have strong verbal communication and people skills, and able to communicate daily to the relevant departments.
Have an excellent working knowledge of HACCP and COSHH and a Level 2 certification in food hygiene.
What’s on Offer?
A competitive basic salary of £35,000 – £38,000 per annum, (assessed at trial shift).
£5000 performance related bonus.
