Our client is a leading pharmaceutical company based in Haverhill with over 40 years' experience in the industry. They are currently looking to recruit a Project engineer to complete a 12-month contract

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Project engineer lead, you will be responsible for the management and execution of engineering projects. You will work as part of a project team or lead your own projects within the Engineering department providing solutions to the site manufacturing operations and process development activities. While also building relationships with external contractors and customer departments across the site.

Your Key responsibilities

  • Provide process engineering design expertise to projects and development work
  • Mass balance generation
  • Identification and assessment of critical process parameters
  • Equipment and in-line item sizing
  • Generation of process and instrumentation diagrams
  • Development of process control philosophies
  • Participating in process safety studies (e.g. HAZOP, SIL) as a subject matter expert
  • Process optimisation studies
  • Provide project management services for the site capital plan
  • Develop engineering solutions to user requirements
  • Assist in the development of cost centre estimates for capital projects
  • Perform equipment and process verification activities

Knowledge and skills required


  • Previous experience with a background in chemical process engineering
  • Experience and of leading small teams to deliver results on deadline


  • Industry experience in drug substance and drug product manufacturing of licensed pharmaceuticals

Qualifications required:


  • Degree in Chemical and/or Process Engineering
  • Pharmaceutical / GMP Experience
  • Membership of IChemE


  • Knowledge / experience of Pharmaceutical Containment Strategies & Clean Rooms
