Could you bring compassion, empathy and sensitivity to support young people in care? Due to an expansion in service, new opportunities are available in a children’s home in Buckinghamshire.
You will be joining a supportive, reliable and settled staff team which is managed by an extremely experienced manager. The organisation provides great training opportunities for team members at all levels from induction and throughout your career.
You will be supporting children and young people in a home environment to promote their physical and emotional well-being, encourage self-respect and respect for others, be involved in meal times and keeping the house clean and tidy, organise and take part in activities and motivate efforts to help the young people attain their goals.
You will work on a rota basis doing on average 3 long days and 2 sleep ins per month. This will include weekend working with one full weekend off in every three.
Due to the complex and traumatised backgrounds of these children, you will need to be resilient and be able to deal with associated challenging behaviours. Your patient approach of being able to see potential and recovery will be tested. Successful applicants will have a natural, positive attitude to be able to cope with challenging behaviours and see the rewards of turning around the lives of these vulnerable young people.
Candidates are required to have previous experience of working with children/young people within a residential home environment or have transferable skills from a similar environment. You are also required to hold a full, manual driving licence. A NVQ / QCF level 3 in childcare is desirable, if not held the organisation will pay for you to attain this qualification.
